Alex Schein: Songs for Change - October 29, 2008
Greetings to One and All:
Here in the United States, many of us are mobilizing and preparing to break the dark spell which has held this country in a destructive haze for the last 8 years. In the spirit of this time, I wanted to contribute my encouragement and my reflection by releasing a new acoustic version of “RiseUp” and a new song entitled “Breathe Out”.
In the last 8 years we have witnessed the incredible power of Fear to distort truth and divide a people for the benefit of a few individuals. These new songs are dedicated to the growth and learning of a world that is slowly remembering the Truth of our Connection. We are slowly realizing our dependence upon one another and our relationship with every system on this planet. The challenges we face are opportunities to reveal this truth and to allow us to remember what is most important and most sacred...our common Love--which grows out of our shared struggle to face the unknown with courage and openness.
As we gather to speak our voice with our Vote, let us remember that the sun will still rise on November 5th and that we must be ready to allow our motivation for change to integrate ever deeper into our daily lives. I pray a new time is truly dawning--one in which the renewal of leadership in our government is but a small piece of the greater movement that continues to rise in the hearts and minds of a new generation. This movement is the source of these songs and all the music i have been blessed to share with you. Many thanks for allowing me this gift.
It’s time...let Love rise UP.
Vote.

"RiseUp" Music Video Released - January 11, 2008
After much anticipation, I am happy to announce to release the music video for "RiseUp" directed by Josh Lowell of BigUp Productions
The journey of the RiseUp video begins in the caverns of the Widow Jane Mine located in the Hudson Valley, NY. Starting out in a cave, we figured, was the perfect location for an underground music video as well as an appropriate place to begin our rise from darkness into light.
I am grateful for the amazing talent of Breaks Kru and Evolution...two B-boy crews from Brooklyn, New York whose energy carries the flow of the entire film.
The video is also the film debut of vocalist Deirdre Breeden, whose verbal magic and radiant energy embodies the intuitive and creative strength of the universal woman who rises up against fear and repression to restore balance within the collective human spirit. RiseUp is a story of love’s urgency in moments of darkness and the courage necessary to allow that love to transform our destructive patterns into healing beats of new life.
I am pleased to present a reflection of that story and am grateful for the tremendous volunteer effort which brought this vision into the world. No big budgets. No industry. Just light, movement, and a lot of hard work and creative energy.
Many thanks to Josh Lowell for his vision, talent, and enduring support of me and the music.
Many thanks also to Billy DeLace of One Shadow Productions for his leadership and passion for this project.
Special thanks also to Dana Giangrande, Alex Frampton Jost, Joslyn Breeden, Stoney, Alyssa Macy, and Ricky AfroDragon for their support and contributions to the making of this video
Personal thanks to Evolution members Flex, Loony and IceMan as well as Breaks Kru members Wak, Eddie, E-Rock and Kom 3. You are all warriors of a new age.
And thanks to you for listening and watching.
Your support allows for the independence of these projects to
be expressed with greater truth and clarity.

Rise Up Video Shoot Memorial Day Weekend 2006
"It's time for the woman to rise up
It’s time for the man to make a stand
It’s time for the child to realize
It’s all in our hands
It’s time if you know what’s right
It’s time if you feel it inside
It’s time, let it go and let you Love
riseUp."
A friend of mine, Alex Schein, recently released his first full-length album, "Speed of Light". I had the opportunity to spend some time with Alex and others over Memorial Day weekend to shoot the video for the song “Rise Up” featuring Deirdre Breeden. The shoot was held in the Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale, New York. The video, directed by Josh Lowell (Big Up Productions), will be released later this summer.
Bboys from the Breaks Kru and Evolution out of New York, were on set both days. The setting and their talent provided some amazing photographic moments. They may have been out of their element, but they were quick to adapt. This experience is definitely in my top 10 for amazing moments and people.
On Saturday night, Alex Shein and Deirdre Breeden made a special appearance following Josh Lowell's sneak preview of his new climbing film "Dosage IV". In addition to their amazing performance, the film itself had some dope footage of climbers from all over the world. You definitely need to check out Big Up Productions on the web.
The Rise Up video will be released later this summer and is certainly something that you won't want to miss. Stay tuned and be sure to show some love to my friend Alex Schein.
